Lois A. Bittner
Watercolor, Ink, Jewelry
A native of Dublin, Ohio, Lois has lived in
Lake County, Ohio, and Athens, Georgia.
In 1995 she moved to Troutville,Virginia, where she and her
husband currently live.  She is a founding member of Gallery
by the James.   
Always interested in  art and crafts, her early adult interests
included porcelain and china painting.  She taught ceramics
for 10 years at her home studio in Athens, Georgia.  During
that time she began to paint in oils (self taught) then branched
out into watercolors.  Lois studied watercolors with Jackie
Slayton Methe and exhibited her work in a co-op gallery in
Athens called, The Loef Gallery.  She was also involved with
traveling exhibits and the Athens Art Association.
The main emphasis of her work now is
watercolor, fused glass, alcohol ink and
porcelain, especially jewelry, although
she continues to learn new techniques
and tries different media.
When You Least Expect It - There It Will Be
All you need do is keep your eyes open.  Public
buildings, doctors offices, clinics and hospitals; pay
close attention the next time you see a lovely picture
on the wall where you have to be because there is a
good chance you're admiring a Bittner painting.

The University of Georgia Botanical Garden; Casulon
Plantation, Good Hope, Georgia; John Marlor Center,

Presently, her art is

Highlands Art and Craft
